A recent report from economists at the University of Chicago and JPMorgan Chase Institute have found some alarming stats regarding repeat layoffs for millions of unemployment claimants.

According to the report: “Almost 2 in 3 workers who began receiving benefits in October had collected them at least one other time since April.”

Peter Ganong, an economist at the University of Chicago, explained: "Repeat unemployment is a serious issue. There's deep distress in the labor market."

They also stated: "Among those who have not been continuously unemployed, the typical experience has been one of repeated unemployment. Many of the workers who were recalled in the summer were laid off again in the fall."

While this probably isn’t breaking news to any of y’all out there, it goes to show just how big of an issue repeated unemployment is for millions of Americans.

Meanwhile, President Biden is gearing up to promote his $ trillion stimulus package across America, hoping to deliver the weekly $400 FPUC extended enhanced unemployment benefits that’s been promised since the end of 2020.

As I discussed earlier, Biden is holding a town hall meeting tonight in Wisconsin, where he is expected to push forward his proposal for weekly $400 checks until September and stimulus unemployment disaster relief funds for millions of Americans.

He recently stated that it’s been: "encouraging to see Congress moving quickly" on a new stimulus package, but he is also willing to trudge on with or without support from the GOP.

Democratic Senator Chris Coons of Delaware recently explained: "[I]f a month from now as unemployment checks are on the verge of stopping for ten million Americans, we can proceed with a Democrat-only bill.”

I sure hope that President Biden can get his $ trillion stimulus package approved soon, as those weekly $400 benefits until September would be amazing for millions of struggling Americans.

Finally, the great state of Arizona is one step closer to raising the weekly maximum amount of unemployment benefits for all claimants across the Grand Canyon State.

Passing a House committee earlier this week, Arizona hopes to raise the maximum amount of state unemployment benefits from $240 to $300.

Representative David Cook explained: "If HB 2805 becomes law, unemployed Arizonans would be eligible for a higher benefit – and that can make a meaningful difference in the lives of people who are struggling to get by."

He continued: "Right now, Arizona isn't in line with its neighboring states. We have a good opportunity to correct that – and I hope that we do."

This is great news for all of my viewers in Arizona, where their current $240 weekly benefits are 49th in the country, and it’s time for that to change.

If you still haven’t applied for unemployment assistance, get a taco and some tequila and apply today.

Visit your state’s PUA or UI website, upload your employment history and ID, and explain that you’ve been out of work due to that thing out there, if that’s the case.

For honestly and truthfully filling out the application, you could receive a backdated unemployment check for over $20,000.

To all of the gig-workers, self employed, independent contractors, 1099 workers, even side hustlers, volunteers and freelancers, you too can receive these unemployment checks from the government thanks to the PUA.
